For many, summertime brings vacation and relaxation. In North Carolina, we’re lucky enough to have a number of beautiful beaches to choose from for our vacation spots. Laying out on the beach often includes enjoying some adult beverages. However, not all North Carolina beaches allow alcohol consumption (and none of them allow you to bring glass bottles to the beach).
According to Port City Daily, these are the alcohol regulations on various NC beaches: Wrightsville Beach, Kure Beach, and Carolina Beach do not permit alcohol on their beaches. Surf City and Topsail Beach both allow alcohol on their beaches, as long as it’s in a can.
Of course, regardless of the alcohol laws on each beach, you can receive a citation if you are consuming alcohol underage anywhere you go. If you are of age and at a beach that permits alcohol, be sure to drink responsibly and remember that extended exposure to the sun can intensify the effects of alcohol. Do not go swimming or operate a boat (or a car) if you’ve been drinking.
